The award honors Synteractive's innovative use of Microsoft technology in support of Recovery.gov. Winners and finalists were nominated and selected by Microsoft's U.S. Public Sector team working throughout the nation.

Recovery.gov enables every citizen to understand the impact of the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in their local community. Newsweek called Recovery.gov "perhaps the finest interactive database ever produced by the American bureaucracy." Recovery.gov was also an Official Honoree for the Financial Services category in The 14th Annual Webby Awards and won a Gold Addy Award from the Ad Club of Metropolitan Washington.
